Hanwha Builds Avalanche-Based Securities Tokenization Platform as South Korea Moves Assets Onchain

Hanwha Investment & Securities, one of South Korea’s major brokerage firms, has reportedly completed development of a tokenized-securities platform using Avalanche blockchain infrastructure.

Hanwha began building the system in 2025 with blockchain technology company FairSquare Lab. The architecture was designed to operate across multiple networks, including Avalanche and Hyperledger Besu.

The timing is significant because South Korea recently approved legislative amendments formally integrating tokenized securities into the country’s financial framework.

Those changes are expected to take effect in February 2027, with South Korea planning a multi-stage transition that could eventually encompass broad categories of securities and stablecoin-based settlement.

Hanwha’s platform therefore is not merely a blockchain experiment occurring independently of regulation.

A major brokerage is building infrastructure ahead of a national market structure that increasingly permits regulated financial assets to exist onchain.

For Avalanche, this is another institutional use case centered on tokenized securities rather than speculative token trading.

TOKEN RECON ASSESSMENT

The tokenization race is entering the deployment stage.

Governments are changing securities rules at the same time brokerages are building the infrastructure needed to operate under those rules.

That synchronization matters.

The winners in RWA tokenization may be the networks already integrated into institutional workflows when regulations turn on.

Avalanche now has another serious institutional deployment to watch.
