BLOCKCHAIN.COM LAUNCHES SHORT-DATED CRYPTO OPTIONS WITH NO EARLY EXIT

Blockchain.com launched crypto options trading for eligible users on October 20. The product covers bitcoin, ether, solana, hyperliquid, avalanche, XRP and TRON, with premiums starting at $5, according to the company announcement.

Users select an asset, direction, target and expiry, while the platform translates those choices into a call or put. The contracts settle in USDC and expire within seven days, positioning the feature as a simplified directional product rather than a full professional options venue.

The restrictions are material. Blockchain.com’s support documentation says a purchased option cannot be sold, transferred or closed early. A user therefore cannot realize residual value or cut a position before expiry through a secondary sale.

The company’s options agreement states that the relevant BVI entity and product are not licensed or supervised under MiCA, MiFID II or another financial-services regime. Availability is jurisdiction-dependent. The launch should not be conflated with Blockchain.com’s separate applications for U.S. derivatives and prediction-market registrations.

TOKEN RECON ASSESSMENT

The simplified interface lowers the knowledge barrier while the no-exit design removes a core risk-management tool. The critical disclosures are therefore pricing, implied volatility, fees, counterparty terms and geographic eligibility. Adoption numbers alone would not establish fair execution.
