Ethereum developers have scheduled the Glamsterdam upgrade for the Hoodi testnet at 17:42:48 UTC on October 26, the next major rehearsal after the upgrade activated on Sepolia earlier this month.
The Ethereum Foundation protocol announcement sets activation at epoch 132,352 and slot 4,235,264. Hoodi’s gas limit will rise to 200 million at the same epoch, matching the limit used for the Sepolia test.
Glamsterdam includes enshrined proposer-builder separation, block-level access lists and gas-accounting changes designed to better reflect execution and state-growth costs. These changes affect block construction, transaction processing and application assumptions, which is why the longer-lived Hoodi environment matters before any mainnet decision.
Node operators must update both execution and consensus clients to compatible releases before activation. The Ethereum Foundation also directed application teams to test whether changes to logs, opcodes, gas accounting or client interfaces affect their software.
No mainnet activation date has been set. The Foundation says a separate announcement will follow once client teams agree on timing, so the Hoodi date should not be presented as a mainnet launch schedule.
TOKEN RECON ASSESSMENT
Hoodi is the operational checkpoint, not the finish line. A clean activation would strengthen the case for scheduling mainnet, while client instability, divergent blocks or application breakage would justify delay. The highest-value signal will be testnet finality and cross-client performance immediately after slot 4,235,264.
