Cardano Whales Hold Record 25.1 Billion ADA After Months of Price Weakness

Intelligence Brief

Wallets holding at least 1 million ADA now control 25.1 billion tokens, the largest concentration since July 2020, according to Santiment.

Large holders now own roughly 67.5% of Cardano’s circulating supply, with accumulation continuing even as ADA remains down more than 70% from recent highs and over 20% year to date.

Why It Matters

Whale accumulation during extended price declines often reflects a longer investment horizon than the broader market. Instead of reducing exposure during weakness, large holders have continued increasing their positions while sentiment around ADA remains subdued.

At the same time, growing ownership among a small group of wallets means a larger share of the circulating supply is concentrated in fewer hands, giving whale activity greater influence over future price movements.

Intelligence Assessment

The latest on-chain data shows that Cardano’s largest holders have continued buying throughout the downturn rather than waiting for market conditions to improve.

Whether this accumulation marks the early stages of a broader recovery will depend on follow through from the wider market. If retail demand returns while whales continue adding to their holdings, the reduced liquid supply could support a stronger recovery. If buying slows, the accumulation may remain a long term positioning strategy rather than an immediate catalyst for higher prices.
