NYDIG Warns Bitcoin Could Revisit $38K as Spot Demand Weakens

Battlefield Report

Bitcoin may not have reached its cycle low, according to NYDIG’s Q2 market report.

The firm argues that the current correction resembles previous bear market cycles, with historical patterns pointing to a potential bottom between $38,000 and $39,000 if selling pressure continues.

Intelligence Findings

NYDIG attributes the weakness to crypto-specific factors rather than broader financial markets.

Spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded roughly $4.9 billion in net outflows during Q2, while stablecoin supply contracted by about $11 billion, indicating fresh capital continues to leave the market.

At the same time, leverage is building. Futures open interest has increased and funding rates remain positive, suggesting leveraged long positions are growing without matching spot demand.

The report also points to Strategy’s new Bitcoin monetization framework as a structural shift. The company now has a formal mechanism to sell Bitcoin if needed, altering its long-held image as a permanent accumulator.

Threat Assessment

Further downside remains possible if ETF demand fails to recover and leverage continues to outpace spot buying. A combination of elevated interest rates, geopolitical tensions, and weaker liquidity could increase liquidation risk across the market.

Intelligence Assessment

Bitcoin’s correction is being driven by weakening capital inflows rather than broad market stress. Until spot demand returns and leverage begins to normalize, downside risks remain elevated. The next major signals to watch are ETF flows, stablecoin growth, and futures positioning, as they will likely determine whether Bitcoin stabilizes or moves toward another leg lower.
