Intelligence Brief
Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh said the U.S. central bank does not intend to rescue failing markets, including the crypto sector, as policymakers push for reforms that reduce systemic financial risk.
Speaking before the House Financial Services Committee, Warsh said the Fed wants a financial system that does not rely on government intervention during periods of market stress.
When asked whether the Fed would step in if stablecoins or the broader crypto market experienced a liquidity crisis, Warsh stopped short of ruling out support under all circumstances, leaving room for interpretation.

The remarks reinforce the Federal Reserve’s preference for market discipline over emergency intervention.
For crypto firms, the message is that risk management and capital resilience remain their responsibility, not the central bank’s. At the same time, Warsh’s response leaves uncertainty over how regulators would react if a severe market disruption threatened broader financial stability.
As stablecoins become more connected to traditional finance, expectations around government support will remain a key issue for both regulators and institutional participants.
