Battlefield Report
Strategy has introduced a new reporting framework designed to measure the financial health of Bitcoin treasury companies as their balance sheets become more complex.
The new model shifts attention beyond total Bitcoin holdings, focusing instead on shareholder exposure, leverage, and the impact of debt and preferred equity on company value.
Intelligence Findings
At the center of the framework is Net Bitcoin Per Share, a metric that calculates the Bitcoin value attributable to common shareholders after accounting for senior claims such as debt and preferred stock.
Strategy also updated its mNAV methodology to compare share prices against net Bitcoin per share rather than gross holdings. Additional metrics assess financing costs, reserve coverage, and how the company’s capital structure performs during periods of Bitcoin price weakness.
The changes follow Strategy’s adoption of its Digital Credit Capital Framework, which expanded its funding sources beyond convertible debt.
Threat Assessment
As Bitcoin treasury companies increasingly rely on debt and preferred equity, comparing firms based solely on Bitcoin holdings may provide an incomplete picture. Higher leverage can amplify shareholder returns but also increases balance sheet risk during market downturns.
Intelligence Assessment
Strategy is attempting to establish a common valuation framework for Bitcoin treasury companies. If these metrics gain broader adoption, investors may begin evaluating treasury firms less by the size of their Bitcoin reserves and more by how efficiently those holdings translate into shareholder value and financial resilience.
