Intelligence Brief
An early Ethereum holder has transferred and sold 2,250 ETH, worth approximately $4.15 million, after the wallet remained inactive for more than three years, according to on-chain data shared by Lookonchain.
The wallet accumulated the ETH more than eight years ago at an average purchase price of roughly $489 per coin. The latest transaction sent the funds to a Kraken deposit address, indicating the assets were moved for sale.

Why It Matters
Movements from long-dormant wallets often draw attention because they introduce previously inactive supply back into the market. While the amount is relatively small compared with Ethereum’s daily trading volume, transactions from early holders are closely watched for signs of broader distribution.
Long-term investors frequently remain inactive through multiple market cycles. When those wallets begin moving funds, traders often look for similar activity from other early holders.
TokenRecon Take
This appears to be a profit-taking transaction from an investor who has held Ethereum since its early years rather than a broader shift in market structure.
The sale alone is unlikely to affect Ethereum’s liquidity, but it serves as a reminder that dormant supply can return to the market after years of inactivity. The more important trend to monitor is whether additional early wallets begin moving funds to exchanges in the coming weeks or if this remains an isolated event.
