Bitcoin’s Golden Cross Is Bullish—but $80,000 Remains the Real Test

Bitcoin has produced its first golden cross since May 2025, placing a widely followed bullish technical signal back on traders’ screens.

A golden cross occurs when the 50-day moving average rises above the 200-day moving average. Traders generally interpret it as evidence that medium-term momentum is improving relative to the longer-term trend.

Bitcoin has recovered substantially from its July lows, but its price continues to encounter resistance near $80,000. Additional resistance has been identified around $83,000 to $84,000, followed by the psychologically important $90,000 level.

The signal is inherently backward-looking. Moving averages describe what price has already done, and previous golden crosses have not prevented short-term declines when macroeconomic conditions deteriorated.

Current conditions make confirmation especially important. Oil above $100, higher Treasury yields and approaching inflation reports could produce volatility that overwhelms technical momentum.

The strongest confirmation would be a sustained move above $80,000 accompanied by continued ETF inflows, improving spot volume and reduced dependence on leveraged futures.

TOKEN RECON ASSESSMENT

The golden cross is constructive intelligence, not a guarantee. Bitcoin still needs price confirmation.

Watch whether buyers defend the $78,000 region and whether a move through $80,000 is supported by spot demand rather than another short-covering burst.
