Duelbits Attacker Consolidates 2,234 Ether After Multichain Hot-Wallet Drain

An address associated with the Duelbits attacker now holds approximately 2,234 ETH, worth about $6 million, after stolen assets from four blockchains were exchanged and consolidated on Ethereum.

Duelbits confirmed a loss near $7 million and took its platform offline. Security monitoring identified outflows from hot wallets on Ethereum, BNB Chain, Tron and Bitcoin, including approximately 8.1 BTC.

The labeled Duelbits Ethereum hot wallet transferred ETH, USDT, USDC, DAI and SHIB within minutes. Most of the assets were subsequently converted into ether and moved to a new consolidation address.

The consolidated ether had not moved onward when CoinDesk reviewed the transactions. Duelbits co-founder Joe McCallum said customer funds were safe, but the platform remained offline during the investigation.

The transaction pattern is consistent with an attacker consolidating stolen liquidity. It should not be interpreted as investment accumulation or a directional ether trade.

TOKEN RECON ASSESSMENT

This movement passes the Whale Activity threshold because the source, suspected attacker route, asset conversions and receiving address are visible onchain.

The stationary balance gives exchanges, stablecoin issuers and investigators time to monitor the next move. Recovery remains uncertain because ether itself cannot be frozen by an issuer.

Watch transfers from the consolidation address, interactions with exchanges or bridges, Duelbits’ incident report and evidence supporting its customer-fund assurance.
