Blast Begins Layer 2 Wind-Down With October 26 Interface Deadline

Blast is closing its Ethereum layer 2 network after determining that operating costs exceed revenue, leaving users until October 26 to withdraw through the normal interface.

The network said it will first unwind Ether held through Lido, a process expected to take about one week. Withdrawals will be temporarily unavailable during that step. They are then expected to reopen with the withdrawal delay reduced to 24 hours.

Assets left after October 26 are not described as forfeited. Users will instead need to interact directly with Blast’s bridge contracts on Ethereum, and the project has promised technical instructions before the interface deadline.

Blast entered mainnet with more than $2 billion in total value locked after attracting deposits with native yield and points. Its remaining DeFi TVL had fallen to roughly $32 million when the shutdown was announced.

The withdrawal window also creates an impersonation opportunity. Users should obtain instructions through Blast’s established website and verified channels, avoid unsolicited support messages and never provide a seed phrase to anyone offering withdrawal assistance.

Blast’s closure turns an economic failure into an active bridge and user-safety operation. The central confirmation is a successful Lido unwind followed by restored interface withdrawals. Until that occurs, the October 26 date is less important than the immediate availability and reliability of the official exit path.
