Ethereum’s Glamsterdam upgrade activated on the Sepolia testnet at 13:53:36 UTC on October 6, converting this morning’s scheduled technical test into a completed network milestone. Alchemy
The fork occurred at epoch 353,024 and slot 11,296,768. Glamsterdam combines the Amsterdam execution-layer changes with the Gloas consensus-layer upgrade, including enshrined proposer-builder separation, block-level access lists and revised gas accounting. Ethereum Foundation Blog
The Morning Token Recon scan reported a last-minute Prysm 7.2.1 release that corrected the client’s Sepolia gas-limit schedule. The previous version could have continued proposing blocks at 60 million gas unless operators changed configuration manually. The new release defaults participating validators to the intended 200 million setting. CoinDesk
Post-activation reporting shows Sepolia continued finalizing after the fork. One observation placed the chain more than 300 slots beyond the fork with finalized epochs continuing normally. Alchemy also reported the upgrade live and advised application developers to retest gas assumptions, contract deployment costs and sponsored-transaction budgets against the upgraded network. The 200 million gas setting is a testnet capacity experiment, not an Ethereum mainnet gas limit. Hoodi and mainnet activation dates remain undecided. Ethereum Foundation Blog
TOKEN RECON ASSESSMENT
This is a material update to the Morning story because the risk has moved from pre-fork configuration to post-fork performance. The network crossed the activation point without the immediate stall that would have turned the Prysm issue into a larger incident.
The real test now is sustained behavior under load. Block propagation, validator participation, client stability, state growth and actual 200 million gas blocks will determine whether the experiment supports a comparable mainnet capacity increase.
