SBI Holdings, Mesh Connect, and Money Forward have reached a basic agreement to establish a Japanese joint venture for digital-asset purchases, transfers, payments, and account connectivity.
The proposed company, Mesh SBI Money Forward Network KK, would be capitalized at 100 million yen. Mesh would own 60%, SBI Group 26%, and Money Forward 14%, according to the official SBI announcement.
The initial plan centers on connecting exchanges and wallets through APIs and simplifying purchase and transfer flows. Stablecoin and tokenized-asset services are longer-term possibilities that depend on business development and the regulatory environment.
The parties expect to establish the venture during 2026, but the release does not confirm regulatory authorization, a production launch, customer accounts, transaction volume, or a supported-asset list.
TOKEN RECON ASSESSMENT
The ownership structure and defined Japanese operating company make this more concrete than a marketing partnership. It remains a formation plan, not a live payment network. The commercial threshold is regulatory clearance followed by verified exchange, wallet, or merchant connections and completed transfers.
