U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded approximately $678.9 million in net outflows during the five trading sessions ending October 9. Friday interrupted the withdrawals with a modest $21.1 million inflow, but the weekly balance remained firmly negative.
Token Recon calculated the total from Farside Investors’ daily fund table: negative $89.8 million on October 5, positive $118.8 million on October 6, negative $484.9 million on October 7, negative $244.1 million on October 8 and positive $21.1 million on October 9.
The sequence matters more than Friday’s isolated turn. The two largest redemption days followed one positive session, showing that buyers did not maintain control once market pressure returned. Bitcoin was trading near $83,000 at the scan, below the zone that held during the earlier October advance.
Ether funds remained weaker. Farside’s Ether table shows five consecutive negative sessions totaling approximately $542.2 million over the same week. Combined, the two products lost about $1.22 billion on a net basis.
The calculation is a simple sum of the daily net flows reported by Farside. It does not measure intraday creations, hedges, over-the-counter inventory or demand outside U.S. spot ETFs. Fund flow also does not prove the motive of any investor.
TOKEN RECON ASSESSMENT
Friday’s Bitcoin inflow is a stabilization signal, not a reversal. A credible turn requires several positive sessions or one sufficiently large creation day to reclaim a meaningful share of the week’s $678.9 million loss. Ether’s uninterrupted redemption run shows that institutional risk reduction extended beyond Bitcoin and remained active into the weekend.
