Bitcoin Completes First Weekly Close Above 50-Week Average in 45 Weeks

Bitcoin has completed a weekly close above its 50-week moving average for the first time in 45 weeks, clearing a long-term trend line that repeatedly blocked earlier recovery attempts.

The average stood near $78,115 when CoinDesk published its analysis. Bitcoin finished the week almost 6% higher before extending its advance above $83,000 Monday.

A 50-week moving average tracks the mean weekly price across roughly one year. Traders use it to distinguish durable trend changes from short-term rallies. Price tends to remain above the line during stronger cycles and below it through extended market contractions.

Galaxy Research identified 13 previous recoveries above the average following major Bitcoin declines. Eleven were not followed by a new cycle low. Successful crossovers in 2012 and 2015 preceded major multi-year advances, although market structure, adoption and liquidity were far different during those periods.

The present signal is strengthened by Bitcoin’s weekly close rather than an intraday breach. It remains vulnerable if price loses the $78,115 area or if macro conditions force investors to reduce risk again.

TOKEN RECON ASSESSMENT

The 50-week crossover supports the argument that Bitcoin’s longer-term market structure is improving. It cannot establish the magnitude or duration of the next move.

The immediate confirmation lines are now $82,300 and $80,000, while the moving average near $78,115 serves as the deeper structural position.

Watch weekly closes, spot ETF demand, trading volume and whether future pullbacks remain above the recovered trend line.
