Bitcoin fell below $83,000 after defending that area during the previous session, converting yesterday’s support test into a material market break. The asset traded near $82,800 at scan time, down from approximately $84,000 one morning earlier.
The decline followed another rise in energy and borrowing costs. Reuters reported on 8 October that attacks on Middle Eastern shipping and storm-related U.S. production interruptions were pressuring global markets. Brent traded above $102 while the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield remained near multi-decade highs.
CoinDesk’s market report placed Bitcoin just below $82,800 during Asian trading. XRP fell roughly 4% to $1.42, Dogecoin lost approximately 3%, Ether traded near $2,570, and Solana fell more than 2%.
The latest move followed roughly $550 million in crypto liquidations during the prior day, mostly from leveraged long positions. That forced-selling wave had already reduced bullish leverage, but the subsequent support failure shows that macro pressure continued after the initial liquidation reset.
TOKEN RECON ASSESSMENT
The $83,000 defense identified in the previous Morning scan has failed. Bitcoin now needs to recover that level quickly to classify the move as a brief liquidity sweep. Continued trading below it brings $80,000 into the immediate field, while a loss of $80,000 would invalidate a larger portion of the late-September recovery. Oil and long-term yields remain the dominant external pressure points.
