Bitcoin Miner Cango Begins Commercial AI GPU Compute at Georgia Facility

Cango’s AI subsidiary, EcoHash Technology, has begun commercial GPU computing operations at the company’s Georgia facility, providing another concrete example of Bitcoin-mining infrastructure being redirected toward artificial intelligence.

EcoHash said it completed infrastructure modifications for a dedicated AI compute section at Cango’s 50 MW Georgia site.

The initial AI area can support approximately 3 MW of computing infrastructure with room for additional expansion. The first batch of GPU servers has entered commercial operation.

Cango describes its broader strategy as combining Bitcoin mining, energy infrastructure and AI compute.

That strategy closely mirrors moves occurring elsewhere across the mining industry. Sites originally assembled around Bitcoin possess large power allocations, cooling infrastructure and data-center expertise — precisely the resources AI compute operators are currently competing to secure.

Cango previously sold part of its Bitcoin holdings and reduced leverage as it prepared for a broader AI infrastructure expansion, making the Georgia deployment part of a strategic shift rather than a one-off experiment.

The Bitcoin-mining-to-AI migration is becoming an industry pattern.

The critical question is economics: if long-term AI compute contracts consistently generate higher returns per megawatt than Bitcoin mining, miners will increasingly allocate incremental power toward AI.

That could eventually affect North American hash-rate growth even if those same companies continue holding Bitcoin on their balance sheets.
