Bitcoin Stabilizes Near $84,000 Before $14 Billion Options Settlement

Bitcoin has steadied near $84,300 after Treasury yields and oil retreated from Thursday’s extremes, but it remains below the $85,000 breakout line as approximately $14 billion in options approach settlement.

The 10-year Treasury yield eased about two basis points to 5.17% after rising more than 20 basis points across the previous two sessions. Brent crude declined approximately 1% to $105 after reports that Washington and Tehran were considering a phased agreement connected with reopening the Strait of Hormuz, according to CoinDesk’s live market coverage.

Bitcoin enters the Deribit expiry below $85,000, one of the larger concentrations of bullish call positioning. Settlement will remove a substantial block of existing options exposure and allow dealers to reduce or rebuild the hedges associated with those contracts.

The market has also reclaimed its 365-day moving average near $80,900 after spending 310 days below it. Five historically similar recoveries preceded higher prices one year later, but a broader sample includes failed signals during 2018 and 2022, as CoinDesk’s technical review notes.

Immediate structure remains weaker than it was after Monday’s ETF-driven advance. Bitcoin must recover $85,000 to reestablish the breakout, while $82,300 and the 365-day average near $80,900 form the next defensive positions.

TOKEN RECON ASSESSMENT

Friday’s expiry should clear part of the derivatives fog. The more useful signal will come from spot trading after the existing dealer hedges are removed.

Holding $82,300 would keep the wider recovery intact. Reclaiming $85,000 on strong cash-market volume would return attention to $87,300 and $90,000. A break below $82,300 would expose the long-term average near $80,900.

Watch the settlement price, post-expiry open interest, ETF flows, the 10-year Treasury yield and whether the reported U.S.-Iran negotiations reduce oil-market pressure.
