Canton Strategic Holdings plans to make tokenized versions of its Nasdaq-listed common stock available through TSV LLC as early as 2 November. If trading begins as described, the shares would be the first issuer-sponsored stock to use the Securities and Exchange Commission’s September tokenized-venue exemption.
The company announcement says Fairmint, an SEC-registered transfer agent, will tokenize CNTN shares. TSV intends to operate a permissioned automated market maker on Canton with identity checks, sanctions screening, atomic delivery-versus-payment settlement and trading outside normal exchange hours. Unlike third-party synthetic stock tokens, the planned instruments are supposed to carry the same rights as the corresponding Nasdaq shares. Issuer sponsorship also avoids the objection process that has removed more than half of the initial OKXICE stock-token list.
The SEC’s Innovation Exemption remains conditional. Venues face symbol and volume limits, must honor primary-market trading halts and must make smart contracts auditable and public. Inclusion in the SEC registry does not mean the agency has approved a venue’s notice or confirmed that every condition has been satisfied.
TSV’s own website still says trading is not available and that the venue is preparing for launch. Canton Strategic’s announcement therefore establishes an agreement and target date, not a completed first trade.
TOKEN RECON ASSESSMENT
The decisive distinction is issuer participation. The market has spent weeks debating tokens created without the underlying company’s consent; CNTN is attempting the opposite model, with the issuer and registered transfer agent inside the structure. The proof point is a publicly verifiable 2 November trade, published contract and transfer-agent record showing that legal rights and onchain settlement remain synchronized.
