Chainlink has launched continuous price references for equities, commodities and other real-world assets, extending its earlier weekday coverage through weekends and holidays. Aave is the first named protocol adopting the service for tokenized collateral.
Chainlink 24/7 combines market inputs from multiple perpetual-futures venues during periods when traditional exchanges are closed. The system filters stale inputs, limits the influence of outliers and identifies the current trading session. Data Streams can provide low-latency offchain delivery, while Data Feeds publish values onchain. Chainlink
Aave plans to use the feeds in Horizon, its institutional lending environment, beginning with high-volume U.S. equities. The purpose is to value eligible tokenized collateral and manage liquidations outside normal market hours.
Continuous pricing does not create continuous liquidity in the underlying stock. A weekend price inferred from derivative venues can diverge from the next opening auction on the primary exchange, especially during news shocks or thin trading. Protocols must therefore treat the reference as a risk input, not as proof that the underlying shares can be bought or sold at that price.
Chainlink says its earlier 24/5 feeds support more than $1.6 billion of tokenized stocks across six chains. Those are provider-reported coverage figures. The 24/7 launch does not disclose live weekend volume, liquidation performance or the full list of assets available at launch.
TOKEN RECON ASSESSMENT
The launch closes a practical gap between always-open blockchain credit and time-limited stock exchanges. It also imports a new basis risk: protocols may liquidate tokenized collateral against an off-hours derivative reference that cannot be immediately arbitraged in the underlying market. Aave’s first weekend of use, feed deviations and liquidation behavior will provide more evidence than the product announcement.
