Coinbase Completes Deribit Integration and Plans to Restore Coinbase Pro

Coinbase has completed the integration of Deribit and created what it calls Coinbase Global Exchange, combining its regulated U.S. infrastructure with the world’s largest crypto-options venue.

The company says the integrated platform will connect eligible U.S. clients with global crypto-derivatives liquidity through Coinbase Financial Markets. Coinbase reported that the Deribit venue held more than $30 billion in Bitcoin options open interest on 30 September and processed more than $1 trillion of volume last year.

Coinbase’s 7 October product announcement says Deribit-powered options, spot margin, and unified portfolios will begin rolling out in the coming weeks. Coinbase Prime is opening options access to eligible institutional clients, while U.S. retail options are scheduled for later in the year.

Coinbase Pro is also scheduled to return by year-end as a professional interface covering spot, futures, perpetuals, options, and equities. The revived brand will sit inside Coinbase’s wider exchange system rather than operate as the separate product retired in 2022.

The integration introduces cross-portfolio margin and multi-asset offsets, which can reduce idle collateral for sophisticated traders. It also concentrates execution, custody, financing, and risk management inside one corporate group. Product availability remains jurisdiction-dependent, and leverage can accelerate losses as quickly as it improves capital efficiency.

The consequential change is not the return of a familiar interface. Coinbase is attempting to join U.S. regulated access with offshore-scale derivatives liquidity in one risk system. The test will be whether the promised single liquidity pool becomes operational without fragmenting customer protections across legal entities. Live U.S. access, options depth, cross-margin behavior during volatility, and regulator disclosures are the confirmation points.
