CoinMarketCap has completed its acquisition of CoinGlass, adding derivatives positioning, liquidations, funding rates and options data to its cryptocurrency price platform.
Financial terms were not disclosed. CoinGlass will continue operating independently under its existing name, with its website, application, API, free tools and pricing unchanged, according to the official acquisition announcement. CoinMarketCap
CoinGlass was founded in 2019 and covers more than 2,500 instruments across 28 exchanges. CoinMarketCap says the platform serves more than five million monthly users and 10,000 API customers.
CoinMarketCap reports approximately 115 million monthly users. The acquisition gives that audience access to leveraged-position data alongside spot prices and market capitalization.
The transaction also concentrates two widely used crypto data services under one owner. CoinMarketCap has not disclosed how data governance, exchange relationships or potential conflicts will be managed.
TOKEN RECON ASSESSMENT
Derivatives drive much of crypto’s short-term volatility, but many retail market dashboards still emphasize spot prices.
Combining both layers could improve market-risk visibility. It also increases the importance of transparent methodologies and independent verification because errors in liquidation or open-interest data can influence trading decisions across a larger audience.
Watch product integration, API terms, methodology changes and whether CoinGlass remains operationally independent.
