Dogecoin recorded one of its largest trading activity spikes in weeks, with 24-hour spot volume climbing 123% to roughly $219 million. Futures activity also accelerated, reaching $1.5 billion, while open interest remained above $1.1 billion.
The surge comes as DOGE continues to trade near multi-month lows around $0.069, suggesting traders are becoming more active at current price levels despite the broader downtrend.
Higher participation alone does not confirm a reversal, but it signals that this support area is attracting increased attention from both spot and derivatives markets.
Market Context
Price action remains under pressure.
Dogecoin was rejected once again below its 26-day EMA near $0.074 and continues to trade beneath the 50-day EMA ($0.078), 100-day EMA ($0.087), and a declining 200-day EMA above $0.10. The broader structure still favors sellers.
Momentum has weakened as the Relative Strength Index hovers around 34-35, placing DOGE close to oversold territory. While that increases the probability of a short-term rebound, oversold readings alone rarely mark the end of an established downtrend.
Derivatives positioning tells a different story. Long-to-short ratios across major exchanges, including Binance and OKX, continue to favor bullish positions, although that optimism has yet to translate into sustained spot buying.
Intelligence Assessment
The increase in volume raises two possible scenarios.
One is accumulation, where larger participants gradually absorb supply while sentiment remains weak. The other is capitulation, with remaining holders exiting positions into higher trading activity.
Current price action does not yet distinguish between the two.
As long as Dogecoin continues printing lower highs and lower lows, the broader trend remains intact. The first level bulls need to reclaim is $0.074. A sustained move above that would shift attention toward $0.078, while a stronger recovery would target the $0.087 resistance zone.
Until price confirms the volume spike, rising activity should be viewed as growing market interest rather than evidence of a completed trend reversal.
