Ethereum Whale Completes $408M Exit — and ETH Absorbs the Supply

The unidentified Ethereum whale Token Recon has been monitoring appears to have completed its exit.

Onchain tracking attributed to Lookonchain indicates the wallet deposited the full 167,855 ETH, worth roughly $408 million, across exchanges between August 30 and September 4.

Earlier tracking showed only part of the position moving, leaving tens of thousands of ETH still available. Friday’s update is important because that remaining inventory has now reportedly been transferred.

What makes the event more interesting is the market response.

Ether did not collapse under the selling pressure. ETH traded around the mid-$2,400s to roughly $2,500 during Friday’s volatile session after previously reaching above $2,500.

At the same time, U.S. Ethereum ETFs recorded approximately $141 million in net inflows on September 3. Those inflows cannot be directly matched against the whale’s activity, but they illustrate that substantial institutional demand was entering the market while large onchain supply was being distributed.

TOKEN RECON ASSESSMENT

The original risk — another 60,000-plus ETH suddenly reaching exchanges — has largely been resolved if the tracking is accurate.

The intelligence question now flips.

Instead of asking whether the whale will sell, watch whether ETH can advance after absorbing roughly $408 million of concentrated supply. If it does, that is a stronger demand signal than a rally occurring without major distribution.
