NYSE Has Spent a Year Testing Avalanche Technology for Tokenized Markets

The New York Stock Exchange has spent approximately one year testing Avalanche technology as it evaluates blockchain infrastructure for tokenized securities, according to Ava Labs President Charley Cooper.

Cooper said NYSE and parent company Intercontinental Exchange examined both Avalanche’s technical capabilities and its economic model, according to The Block’s report.

ICE Head of Strategic Initiatives Michael Blaugrund separately said the organization is actively engaged with Avalanche and that the network satisfies many of its requirements.

Neither executive said NYSE had selected Avalanche for production deployment. Testing, technical integration and a commercial launch are separate stages.

An institutional tokenization platform must handle shareholder rights, identity controls, corporate actions, settlement finality and trading halts. Network speed alone cannot satisfy those requirements.

The disclosure arrives as the SEC opens a conditional U.S. pathway for tokenized listed stocks, giving exchange operators a clearer reason to prepare production infrastructure.

TOKEN RECON ASSESSMENT

A year of testing is stronger evidence than a short-term marketing partnership, but it is not a deployment decision.

NYSE’s involvement shows that major market operators are evaluating public-blockchain technology at the infrastructure level.

Watch an official ICE or NYSE selection, live issuer participation, transfer-agent integration, validator structure and whether tokenized securities can move between platforms without fragmenting liquidity.
