OKX and Intercontinental Exchange have moved their tokenized-equities project from broad concept to a detailed market design.
OKXICE, their 50-50 joint venture, published a notice for a tokenized securities venue listing more than 60 U.S. stocks, including Nvidia, Tesla, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Coinbase, Circle, Strategy, Robinhood, JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs and Boeing. Each tokenized stock would trade against USDC, USDG or USDT. OKX
The architecture is materially different from a conventional exchange order book. OKXICE says the venue will use permissioned Uniswap v4 automated market-maker pools deployed on XLayer. Eligible wallets receive a soulbound token after identity, anti-money-laundering, sanctions and wallet screening. Only approved wallets can trade or supply liquidity. OKX
For tokens created by an unaffiliated tokenizer, the filing requires the underlying stock to be held one-for-one through a registered broker-dealer. The token is intended to represent a security entitlement carrying the same economic rights as the corresponding share, including dividends, voting rights and residual claims. OKX
The market is designed to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Prices inside the smart contracts are determined by the ratios of assets in each liquidity pool, not by an oracle tracking the underlying stock. OKXICE’s own risk disclosure warns that token prices can diverge from the underlying equity, particularly outside regular exchange hours or when pool liquidity is thin. OKX
The notice also shows that issuer objections are not theoretical. Cerebras Systems had already submitted an objection as of the filing date. OKX
TOKEN RECON ASSESSMENT
The filing moves tokenized U.S. equities from concept to an unusually detailed market design. The most consequential experiment is not merely 24/7 trading. It is whether an AMM-based, self-custodial securities venue can preserve shareholder rights, price integrity and corporate-action handling when the primary equity market is closed.
The architecture creates a measurable test. If liquidity remains deep enough to keep token prices close to underlying shares outside regular hours, the model gains credibility. Persistent price gaps, issuer objections or thin pools would expose the limitations quickly.
