Six-Year Bitcoin Holder Moves 4,582 BTC Without Sending Funds to an Exchange

A Bitcoin wallet that had remained dormant for more than six years moved approximately 4,582 BTC, worth about $377.6 million at the time of reporting, into five recipient addresses.

The wallet received the coins in March 2020, days before the pandemic-era market crash, when the position was worth roughly $40.8 million. The Block reported that the funds remained in the recipient addresses after the transfer. The Block

Lookonchain identified the movement using Arkham data. The reviewed evidence establishes dormancy, the amount moved and the distribution into new addresses. It does not establish the owner’s identity, the reason for the transfer or an intention to sell.

No exchange deposit was identified in the reporting available for this scan. The movement could reflect custody rotation, estate planning, security management, collateral preparation or a future transaction. Each explanation remains unverified.

The transfer arrived as Bitcoin was recovering from an overnight decline below $81,000. That timing makes the position market-relevant, but price correlation is not evidence that the wallet caused the move.

TOKEN RECON ASSESSMENT

This transfer clears the Whale Activity threshold because the wallet history and amount are observable, but it does not clear the intent threshold. The next meaningful signal is destination behavior. A deposit into a labeled exchange, movement into a custodian, use as collateral or a public ownership disclosure would change the interpretation. Until then, the defensible report is a large dormant-wallet reorganization, not distribution.
