Intelligence Brief
SpaceX shares fell to an all-time low of $132.75 on July 15, slipping below the company’s $135 IPO price for the first time since listing on Nasdaq last month.
The decline comes despite broad support from Wall Street analysts, with 27 of 31 firms maintaining Buy or Strong Buy ratings and an average price target of $242.

Why It Matters
The sell off reflects a market placing greater weight on near-term supply and valuation than long term forecasts.
Investors are preparing for additional shares to enter the market as lockup restrictions eventually expire, while enthusiasm surrounding newly listed AI and technology companies continues to cool after a strong first half of the year.
Those factors have outweighed bullish analyst targets and long term growth expectations.

What’s Driving the Weakness
SpaceX debuted at $150 after being priced at $135 in its IPO before rallying to $225.64 within days of listing.
That early momentum has since reversed.
The company’s relatively small public float has made the stock especially sensitive to shifts in sentiment, while expectations surrounding its AI infrastructure, Starlink, and launch businesses remain years away from being fully reflected in earnings.
At the same time, concerns over future share supply have limited buying interest as investors wait for a more balanced market.
Intelligence Assessment
SpaceX’s decline reflects a broader shift across growth assets.
Markets are becoming less willing to pay premium valuations based on future potential alone, particularly when additional share supply and higher interest rates remain part of the equation.
For crypto investors, the trend is worth watching. The same capital that fueled AI and technology names has also supported digital assets. As investors become more selective, momentum alone may no longer be enough to sustain higher valuations across either market.
