Intelligence Brief
Sui’s Hashi testnet has processed more than 1.1 million BTC deposit transactions and 165,000 withdrawals during its first 21 days, according to Sui Network.
More than 25 institutional participants are also stress testing the system ahead of its planned production deployment.
Hashi is being developed as Bitcoin infrastructure for Sui, with the testnet designed to test how BTC can move into and out of the network under sustained transaction loads. The early numbers indicate heavy testing activity, but they should not be confused with 1.1 million BTC in economic value entering Sui. The reported figure refers to deposit activity on a test network.
That distinction matters.
Strategic Assessment
Sui is targeting one of the largest pools of largely inactive crypto capital: Bitcoin.
BTC has deep liquidity and a market value measured in trillions of dollars, but using it across lending, trading and other onchain applications usually requires additional infrastructure. Hashi is attempting to make that connection part of Sui’s Bitcoin strategy.
If the system survives testing and reaches production, Sui could compete for BTC liquidity currently routed through wrapped assets, bridges and Bitcoin focused networks.
The institutional participation is therefore more relevant than raw testnet transaction counts. More than 25 organisations testing the infrastructure gives Sui a chance to identify operational problems before real capital is involved.
