Zcash Jumps 23% After Governance Vote and Leveraged Short Squeeze

Zcash gained approximately 23%, moving toward the $1,400 area as a governance catalyst and short-position liquidations combined with a broader post-Fed crypto recovery.

The rally followed a coinholder vote supporting 25-second blocks and retaining Bitcoin-style issuance halvings. Nearly 2.4 million eligible ZEC participated in that governance process.

CoinDesk reported that Zcash substantially outperformed Bitcoin, Ether and Solana during the overnight rebound.

The move was amplified by derivatives positioning. Traders betting against ZEC were forced to close positions as the price rose, adding market purchases to the underlying demand.

Support from prominent crypto investors also contributed to the narrative. Paradigm co-founder Matt Huang described Zcash as a potential privacy complement to Bitcoin rather than a direct replacement.

The rally does not mean Network Upgrade 7 is already active. Faster blocks, Sprout deprecation and the approved issuance decisions must still be implemented, reviewed and adopted by network software operators.

Zcash also remains highly volatile. A sharp price increase driven partly by liquidations can reverse when forced buying ends and profit-taking begins.

TOKEN RECON ASSESSMENT

The governance vote supplied a credible fundamental catalyst, but leverage accelerated the price response.

The important confirmation will be sustained spot demand after short positions have been cleared.

Watch the final NU7 implementation, exchange open interest, funding rates, spot volume and whether ZEC can hold its breakout without relying on continued forced liquidations.
