Zcash became the standout large-cap performer Thursday as falling rate-hike expectations triggered a broad crypto market rally.
ZEC gained roughly 16.5% during the afternoon session according to The Block, while Cardano advanced approximately 13%. Cointelegraph market data later showed ZEC trading close to $968 with gains approaching 20%.
The rally was broad rather than isolated. XRP advanced close to 10%, Dogecoin about 9%, Chainlink roughly 8%, Solana more than 6%, and Ether more than 5% as Bitcoin moved beyond $80,000.
This matters because altcoin performance had remained uneven throughout the earlier stages of Bitcoin’s August recovery. Thursday’s move indicates risk appetite expanded beyond BTC once Treasury yields eased and Fed expectations shifted.
The sustainability test begins after the initial squeeze. Altcoins typically magnify Bitcoin’s movements in both directions, making continued BTC stability above $80,000 crucial.
TOKEN RECON ASSESSMENT
Thursday produced a genuine risk-on rotation, not merely a Bitcoin bounce.
Zcash and Cardano are currently leading the tactical move, but the broader signal is participation. If altcoins maintain relative strength while BTC consolidates above $80K, the market may be entering a wider expansion phase.
