Bitcoin recovered to approximately $80,300 early Sunday after falling as low as roughly $79,280 during Saturday’s leverage washout. The move restores the $80,000 handle, but the market remains close enough to the weekend low that the recovery cannot yet be called a confirmed reversal.
CoinGecko’s Bitcoin market page showed a 24-hour range near $79,263 to $80,949. CoinDesk’s live market data put bitcoin near $80,329, down about 0.4 percent over 24 hours. Ether was near $2,333, Solana near $101 and XRP near $1.29. CoinGecko
Saturday’s preceding scan documented the more consequential part of the move: bitcoin’s break below $80,000 and approximately $404 million in long liquidations over four hours. The new information is that price has stabilized above the round-number level rather than extending immediately lower. It has not recovered the full session range or erased the forced-selling risk.
Weekend liquidity can exaggerate both breakdowns and rebounds. A durable recovery would be more convincing if spot buying persists as deeper weekday liquidity returns and derivatives positioning rebuilds without another rapid increase in leverage.
TOKEN RECON ASSESSMENT
The $80,000 reclaim is tactical stabilization, not strategic confirmation. The cleanest validation would be sustained spot-led buying above the weekend high near $80,950 while funding and open interest remain controlled. A renewed loss of the $79,300 area would instead show that the liquidation event cleared positions without creating dependable demand.
