Twenty-Two Issuers Now Object to OKX and ICE’s Tokenized Stock Venue

Six more public companies have objected to tokenized versions of their shares trading on the planned OKXICE TSV venue. Wells Fargo, Cisco, Marvell, Arm, Moderna and Intuit joined the list in an updated 23 October notice, bringing the total to 22 from 16 on 19 October and nine on 15 October. Decrypt

The venue is a 50-50 venture between OKX’s US holding company and Intercontinental Exchange, owner of the New York Stock Exchange. It plans round-the-clock trading of tokenized US equities through Uniswap v4 pools on OKX’s X Layer, with stablecoins including USDC used as quote assets.

The objections matter because the planned structure relies on a Securities and Exchange Commission innovation exemption that gives issuers an opportunity to opt out. They do not amount to a blanket rejection of tokenization, nor do they necessarily affect tokenized shares offered outside the exemption. The notices do not explain why individual companies objected.

The venue’s own disclosures identify risks that are distinct from conventional exchange trading, including the absence of circuit breakers beyond trading halts, limited protection from transaction reordering and the possibility of smart-contract upgrades without advance notice. Those mechanics help explain why issuer consent has become a live market-structure question rather than a branding dispute.

TOKEN RECON ASSESSMENT

The accelerating opt-out count is a constraint on product breadth and a test of whether regulatory permission can produce issuer acceptance. The next decisive evidence is the final launch roster and the SEC exemption’s operating conditions. Until those are public, 22 objections should be read as venue-specific resistance, not proof that major companies oppose every form of on-chain equity.
