Bitcoin ETF Inflows Narrow to $17 Million Before the Binance Shock

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a fourth consecutive inflow on 29 October, but the total fell sharply to $17.2 million. The completed session preceded the worst of the Binance-driven selloff, so it does not measure fund demand after Bitcoin dropped to a six-week low.

The Farside Investors table shows IBIT adding $12.8 million, FBTC $10.5 million, BITB $8.8 million and Morgan Stanley’s MSBT $4.2 million. WisdomTree’s BTCW lost $3.8 million and Grayscale’s BTC lost $15.3 million. The broader participation is healthier than the previous session’s near-total dependence on IBIT, but the aggregate amount is small.

The four-session Bitcoin inflow run now totals $440.8 million. That still leaves the six-session period beginning with the 22 and 23 October redemptions negative by $332.7 million.

Ether funds weakened. Farside’s Ether data show a $105.5 million net outflow on 29 October, the fourth consecutive negative session. The four-session withdrawal reached $275.7 million. ETHA lost $71.7 million, ETHB $15.6 million, ETHE $15.5 million and Grayscale’s ETH $5.6 million, partly offset by a $2.9 million FETH inflow.

The market break came after those fund figures. Bitcoin fell as low as approximately $76,460 before recovering toward $78,000. Ether dipped below $2,200. CoinGlass data reported by CoinDesk showed $1.53 billion in 24-hour liquidations, including $1.29 billion of long positions. Bitcoin accounted for about $499 million and Ether $358 million. coindesk.com

Binance processed $754.6 million of the forced closures, almost half the market-wide total, even as the exchange had suspended deposits and withdrawals. CoinDCX separately placed futures in reduce-only mode because the incident disrupted a global liquidity provider, while leaving its spot deposits, withdrawals and customer funds unaffected.

TOKEN RECON ASSESSMENT

The 29 October fund data do not confirm institutional support during the breach. They describe a completed U.S. session before the full overnight repricing. Bitcoin fund demand was positive but thin, while Ether redemptions accelerated. The first meaningful test is the completed 30 October flow table. A large Bitcoin outflow would end the four-session resilience signal; another inflow after the breach would be materially stronger evidence than the $17.2 million recorded before it.
